How To Set Up User Types

The time has come to share your App with your community. Well, aren't you clever? ๐Ÿ™‚ Once you've given yourself a celebratory pat on the back for being awesome, now it's time to share your creation with the world. This post talks you through exactly how to do that.

To get started, it's important to understand, you can create different user types with different permission levels; as many as you'd like. You have complete freedom to set your users up, in a way that makes sense to your community. This flexibility is what makes our platform so unique; perfectly fitting for unique communities like yours.

Sometimes though, all that freedom can be a little overwhelming as you get started, so below we suggest the 4 basic user types that are most common. Start here to get a sense of it and add and change as you want.

Click on the circles below to get an idea of what these basic user types can look like in your community.

Description Of Different User Types

The big Kahuna with permission to do everything

Power Primary User

The kind of members you want to entrust more features to. These users get all the same features of your primary user, but can do extra things like submit newsletter articles, create and manage surveys and send community wide alerts.

Primary User

This is your community members. Usually granted access to post news articles, send maintainence requests, create events and add photos to the gallery.

Linked User

This might be someone linked to your community but not in your community. Like a family member of an aged care resident. Maybe you would like them to access the news and events, but not be able to see all the gallery shots or community member details.

By now, you're likely starting to see the scope of all of this; it's all about what you give your users permission to access and what you hide from their view. Have a think and a play about what will work best for you in your setting then get about creating your user type.
